Introducing The Business Standard

You've built the business.
We'll position it for funding.

We establish and maintain the legal infrastructure, governance, contracts, and documented business systems that help prepare your company for lenders, investors, and funding opportunities.

Built by an Attorney. Shaped by an Advocate. · Serving Maryland businesses

You've already done the hard work

Your success deserves to be documented, protected, and presented.

You invested the time. Made the sacrifices. Won the customers. Built the reputation. When it's time to pursue financing or investment, your business should be able to show more than its potential.

It should be able to demonstrate who makes decisions, how obligations are managed, which agreements govern its relationships, and how its operations are documented.

We don't take credit for building your business. We help you put the legal foundation behind the success you've already created.

The advocate advantage

Not just advice. An advocate's perspective.

A traditional consultant may focus on optimizing a process. We also ask what a skeptical lender, investor, business partner, or opposing party might question—and what reliable records and legal protections can help answer those questions.

01 / ANTICIPATE

See the questions coming.

Identify gaps in ownership records, signing authority, contracts, legal obligations, and documented procedures before they slow a review.

02 / STRENGTHEN

Put substance behind the story.

Draft and implement governance documents, agreements, policies, and approval structures that support responsible operations.

03 / DEMONSTRATE

Be ready to make your case.

Organize verifiable records and help management prepare accurate responses to legal due diligence questions.

The program focuses on legal and organizational readiness. It does not replace accounting, underwriting, financial advisory, or investment-banking services.

What you actually receive

Legal infrastructure you can use—and show.

01

Governance & authority

Entity record review, ownership and authority documentation, operating agreements or resolutions as applicable, and maintenance responsibilities.

02

Contracts & commitments

Selected customer and vendor agreement templates, signature protocols, material-obligation registers, and renewal tracking.

03

Documented procedures

Core written procedures for approvals, onboarding, recordkeeping, complaints, and escalation—tailored to the engagement scope.

04

Compliance accountability

A responsibilities matrix and legal deadline calendar, with specialist referrals where technical or financial expertise is required.

05

Business evidence portfolio

An indexed, access-controlled legal due diligence file containing organized, verified business records and a list of open items.

06

Funding readiness challenge

A structured mock due diligence review: anticipated questions, document checks, corrective steps, and a written readiness summary.

A different kind of investment

Build the foundation once. Keep it ready.

You don't rebuild a house's foundation every year. You establish it properly, maintain it, and adapt it when circumstances change.

The Business Standard applies the same principle to your company's legal infrastructure: a defined foundational project followed by optional, lower-cost ongoing maintenance.

Your next funding opportunity shouldn't require you to rebuild your business on paper.

Major transactions, changes in ownership, expansion, or new regulations may require additional work. The goal is a durable starting point—not a promise that your business will never need significant updates.

A clear path forward

Six months to establish. Ongoing support to maintain.

Phase One / Foundation

The Build Program

Contact for pricing

Program investment confirmed in your engagement agreement

  • Month 1: Business positioning review and governance assessment
  • Month 2: Contracts, signing authority, and obligation controls
  • Month 3: Core procedures and accountability systems
  • Month 4: Compliance responsibilities and implementation
  • Month 5: Business evidence portfolio and due diligence organization
  • Month 6: Funding readiness challenge, corrections, and handoff

Designed as a one-time foundational engagement.

Phase Two / Continuity

The Maintain Program

Contact for pricing

Keep the foundation current.

  • Two structured business legal infrastructure reviews each year
  • Written findings and priority maintenance recommendations
  • Defined routine governance and document updates
  • Legal guidance within the agreed service scope
  • Maintenance of the legal due diligence document index
  • Identification of major changes requiring separate projects

Your foundational documents remain yours even if you do not continue.

Pricing and deliverables are subject to agreed scope, eligibility, and an engagement agreement. Maintenance does not include unlimited litigation, unlimited contract work, or comprehensive compliance monitoring.

The funding advantage

Don't let missing records or unclear legal structure distract from the value you've already created. When a financing opportunity arrives, be better prepared to provide accurate documents, explain your company's structure, and address legal due diligence questions.

Designed for established enterprises

Who is The Business Standard for?

For Maryland business owners who have already built something meaningful and are preparing for a new level of opportunity: expansion financing, a commercial loan, an investment conversation, an institutional partnership, or other growth-related scrutiny.

Especially relevant for businesses that have outgrown informal agreements, founder-only decision-making, scattered records, and undocumented operating practices.

It may not be the right fit if your primary need is a business plan, a credit repair service, guaranteed grant access, investment introductions, or an immediate financing approval. Those are different services, and funding decisions remain with the relevant institutions.

We can coordinate legal work with your accountant, financial adviser, or other specialists where appropriate.

Common questions

Questions business owners ask

Does this program guarantee financing or investor interest?

No. Financing decisions depend on credit, financial performance, collateral, market conditions, investment criteria, and other factors outside this program. We help improve your legal and organizational readiness, not guarantee an outcome.

Do I have to repeat the six-month program?

Ordinarily, the program is intended as a one-time foundational engagement. Routine changes can often be handled through maintenance. Major restructurings, acquisitions, new financing transactions, or significant growth may require separate legal projects.

What makes this different from business consulting?

The service is delivered by a law firm and centers on legal work products: governance, contracts, authority, obligations, and due diligence preparation. We approach these issues through an advocate's lens, while coordinating with nonlegal advisers when needed.

Do I have to enroll in the maintenance plan?

No. The maintenance plan is optional. The business retains the completed deliverables from the foundational engagement under the engagement terms.

Will you represent my business in disputes?

Legal representation can be discussed and defined in a separate or appropriately scoped engagement. Neither program automatically includes unlimited litigation.
